want new frank turner bad but will probably buy it

I think JB should ship their items sooner so they actually get to us on the proper release date
grrr...

most labels send stock to JB at the absolute last minute. JB started ignoring release dates and putting cds on shelves as soon as they came in (to get the early sales), which the labels dont like because the charts each week are calculated on sales beginning friday, so if its in a store early the sale wont count to their goal of 'first week high debut'

Yeah
I like it when they put the albums on the shelf early anyway
It's just I know KC have been signing their albums for weeks so it would have been good to get it on time

COMING UP IN: 2010: 27/03 SOUNDWAVE, ??/03 Frank Woodley, ??/03 Ross Nobel, 11/03 Clipsal 500, 13/03 Clipsal 500, 26/03 Grinspoon, 23/04 The Sundance Kids,

indie labels are pretty crucial to the scene josh and usually give the bands complete control or almost complete control and make very little money

i'm not slagging off small labels that help promote good bands as they are not the ones pulling stunts like this whose only goal is to make money that ultimately care about the bands. there are so many situations where a label has pushed a band in a direction just to be more profitable or will only release an album at the right time of the year to make the money sales. i will try and support smaller bands on indie labels but bands on say boomtown i will never buy because all they do it destroy music.

yeah i agree. Not sure where music would go without labels though. They are in the most part a necessary evil.

well the internet is going to play a huge part in industry

i guess bands can support themselves off live shows and merch because in such a flooded market people are going to buy albums less and less. cd's are an outdated technology but its not like digital music has caught up yet. i would rather get a vinyl with a download code than a disk i will just rip to the computer and sit in a pile

yeah vinyl ftw. Its getting more and more popular as cds are dying. The only reason i need a digital copy is for comp and ipod and i can do that with vinyl and even easier with a download code. Cds i never listen to.
Making vinyl is expensive though so small bands wont do it very often.

Just realised I've only got two Sunny Day Real Estate albums. Was there a more recent one? I recall an argument by some guy and Tz over it.

There are four: Diary, LP2, How It Feels To Be Something On and The Rising Tide. Which two do you have?
