Biography

1999 marked an important year in history - the world awaits the consequences of the Y2K bug, war erupts in Kosovo and the Blair Witch project becomes the most profitable film ever. September 28th, 1999 also marked an important day in music history with THE GET UP KIDS landmark release, Something to Write Home About... "It’s original, powerful, aggressive, heartfelt... it is simply the greatest pop punk album ever written." – Sputnik Music

Fast forward to 2009 and THE GET UP KIDS are back with a recently announced reunion tour in conjunction with the anticipated 10th anniversary special edition release of their seminal album. The special edition CD/DVD package includes the first ever "high quality" live shoot of the band performing Something To Write Home about in its entirety from front to back.

In 2010, The Get Up Kids are sure to awe the crowds again at Soundwave Festival, and this what you can expect:

Reading that this band was coming to Aus has put a huge smile on my face. I couldnt believe they broke up at the time, but im damn happy they are back and kicking it!! Def a big thing for me!

My best friend first introduced me to the get up kids years back, and it fast became the soundtrack to our youth. Not an album or song that doesnt have a memory attached. To say I love this band is an understatement, and considering my best friend tragically passed away in October last year, and the hole its left, there is no way in hell I would be missing this show in Adelaide. I will be holding back tears amongst the pure joy for this one. Definately double edged sword for me, but a gig that would of been a 2 man show beforehand. Will go nicely with my Get Up Kids tattoo I have Rees mate, this ones so gonna be for you bud. Cant f*ckin wait. Where do I sign? Lol.

Did you know?

The Early November song "Baby Blue" includes the line "I don't want you to love me anymore", a direct reference to The Get Up Kids song "No Love" both lyrically and melodically.
